The Sound of Hope in Brazil’s Capital: Recapping Our Time in Brasilia

Our recent trip to Brasilia, Brazil with the Souled Out Jazz Orchestra was an absolute testament to God's faithfulness. We saw how God used the music to open doors, transcend language barriers, and bring joy to so many hearts made every moment worth it. We returned home deeply thankful for His safety, protection, and the incredible privilege of sharing His love.

Here is a look back at how God moved through our performances, workshops, and personal connections.

Echoes of Praise: Our Performances

We had an incredible time sharing our music in a variety of settings—from local churches and schools to community spaces and a hospital. We were privileged to perform at AD Vila Dimas church, Batista Águas Claras, Salesiano N. Bandeirante, C. Baleia, the Children's Hospital, Cruzeiro Educational Center, the Firefighters School, and ESD.

At every stop, the energy of big band jazz instantly captured people’s attention and hearts, allowing us to seamlessly share the ultimate message of the Gospel. The reception we received at Salesiano N. Bandeirante says it all:

"The Souled Out Jazz Orchestra's performance was truly outstanding! We would like to highlight the kindness, humility, and availability shown by every member of the orchestra. It was inspiring to see our students interacting with the musicians. These moments of cultural and personal exchange broadened their horizons, strengthened their confidence, and created memories that will remain with them for years to come."

Investing in the Next Generation: Our Workshops

Beyond the concert stage, our mission was to pour into the local musical community. We hosted music workshops at C. Baleia and the Firefighters School, where our musicians sat down and worked with the students.

It was a joy to share skills, talk about the heart behind our playing, and encourage these young artists in their own musical journeys. One of the host leaders shared what these sessions meant to their community:

"The workshops conducted by SOJO musicians for the students of the Music Bands from both units of our institution was truly enriching for the education and development of our young musicians, making a significant contribution to their artistic and musical growth."

Beyond the Notes: Connecting with the Community

While we love playing music, the true heartbeat of our ministry happens when the instruments are set down. This trip was defined by the deep, personal connections we made with kids, students, and everyone we crossed paths with. Whether we were sharing smiles with students after a school performance or meeting with church members, sharing the love of Jesus through real human connection is the ultimate gift.

Nowhere was this felt more deeply than during our time at the Children's Hospital, where music became a tool for healing and comfort. The staff sent us this beautiful note of gratitude, which perfectly captures why we do what we do:

"The art you brought touched the deepest corners of our hearts, creating an atmosphere filled with hope, care, and joy. Through music, you brought smiles, and renewed hope."
