CELEBRATION ORCHESTRA
September 11 - 20, 2025

The Celebration Orchestra just returned from a great first project to Argentina! In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we’re already planning on returning in 2026 with Metro Big Band.

You may be wondering, “How did GMP get connected with Argentina?” It’s a story that only God could write.

For over 20 years, GMP has been traveling to Cuba, training and equipping worship leaders across the island. Over time, those leaders have grown in their faith and ministry - and several years ago, the Baptist Conventions in Cuba began sending out missionaries of their own.

One of those missionaries, who had worked alongside GMP during our trips to Cuba, later found himself in Buenos Aires, Argentina, spending time with leaders at the Baptist Seminary there. As their time together came to a close, he asked them how he could pray for them and what needs they had.

Their answer was simple: “We’d really like to form an orchestra program to strengthen our worship training.” Without hesitation, the missionary said, “I know exactly who you need to talk to.” And that’s how GMP was invited to help launch this incredible project in Argentina.

At the conclusion of our final concert, one of the local guitarists and arrangers from the seminary turned to one of our violinists and said, “You just don’t know how long we’ve been praying for an orchestra like this.”

Being part of God’s plan in moments like these is a constant blessing. It’s exactly why we go anytime we can.

God put this Celebration Orchestra team together as He always does. We had a great group of musicians who came to play and minister. We are so blessed to have musicians with a wonderful spirit to make music for God, share their testimonies and connect with the people beyond the music.

We had an amazing opportunity to visit a prison and meet men with unique life stories. God allowed us to boldly share His message of love and forgiveness. So many of the people there were so thankful for our presence and we were able to show God’s love through our music. It was a blessing to be there.

An evening concert at the seminary was a blessing as we joined with the seminary choir with musical arrangements created by one of the teachers of classic hymns in an Argentinian style. The choir was inspiring to us and we loved being with them and connecting. The music program at the seminary is still young and we are excited to be a part of their future with our teaching and presence.

Our final concert in a local theater was a treat for all of us. Everyone that attended was very appreciative and we had the opportunity to hear several of the small singing groups from the seminary as well. Many of the faculty attended plus the parents from some of the students.

Our mission partner, Constanza, has an amazing history of pastors and Christian leaders in her family. We met her father, grandfather and some uncles who have been in ministry all of their lives in Argentina. This amazing church and school was founded by her grandfather and has a couple of thousand elementary and high school students attending with focused Christian teaching. The kids loved our concert and were very excited to have us there. We are excited to return there again on a future visit.

The sights and sounds of Buenos Aires are like many great cities that are energized 24 hours a day. Beautiful traditional architecture and some very modern as well. Life shown from the past in totally above ground cemeteries including major political leaders like Evita (Eva Duarte Perón). And of course, some amazing eating establishments with great beef! All of our team enjoyed being in this new location and we look forward to returning next year with Metro Big Band!
