Music on Mission in São Paulo

Through performances, worship gatherings, personal conversations, and new friendships, the Celebration Orchestra’s time in São Paulo became about so much more than music. God used every note and every willing heart to share the hope of Jesus and encourage the people we met along the way. Watch the recap video below to hear from participants and experience a glimpse of what God did throughout this incredible week.

Speaking Jesus Through Music

From the first notes of each performance to the conversations that followed, the Celebration Orchestra’s time in São Paulo was an opportunity to share the hope of Jesus, encourage local churches, and build relationships with the people we met.

Throughout the week, the orchestra served at churches and ministries across the city, including IB Morumbi, Vila das Belezas Baptist Church, Lar Batista, Assembly of God in Jardim Amália, and Vale Velho Baptist Church. Each place brought a different audience and a new opportunity to communicate the Gospel through music.

Music That Made an Impact

Every time the Celebration Orchestra played, audiences did more than listen. They worshiped, responded, and experienced the message of Jesus in the music. Team members could see the impact on people’s faces as the hope of Christ filled each room.

One team member described how the Lord used every instrument and every person to “speak Jesus” throughout the week. The song I Speak Jesus became more than part of the program. It felt like the theme of the entire project.

Serving Beyond the Stage

Some of the most powerful moments happened outside the performances.

Members of the orchestra shared their experience and knowledge through music and worship workshops for local musicians. Other participants served wherever they were needed, offering willing hands, encouraging the team, and spending time with children and families.

Those who were not performing had a unique opportunity to connect personally with people in the audience. They could sit alongside them, worship with them, listen to their stories, and experience the music through their eyes.

These simple moments of connection reminded us that everyone has a place in the mission. God can use a musical gift, a conversation, an encouraging word, or simply a willing heart.

Blessed in Return

The people of São Paulo were not the only ones impacted by this project.

One participant came expecting to see others moved by the power of music. What she did not expect was how deeply she would be encouraged by the team, the daily devotional thoughts, and the wisdom shared throughout the week.

That became a common thread of the project. As the team poured into churches and communities across São Paulo, God was also working within the team. New friendships were formed, faith was strengthened, and participants returned home carrying stories and memories that will remain with them for years to come.

Just Go

When asked what she would tell someone considering a Global Missions Project, one participant gave a beautifully simple answer:

“Just go.”

If you are willing to step out, God will use you. And along the way, you may discover that He blesses and changes your own life more than you ever expected.

We are grateful for every musician, participant, host, church, and new friend who helped make this project possible. Most of all, we thank God for using the Celebration Orchestra to share the love and hope of Jesus throughout São Paulo.
