Change the life of non-Christian instrumentalists all over the world!
Dear Instrumental Ministry Leader,
I have accepted the honor of serving as chairperson for an exciting undertaking initiated by Global Missions Project called INSTRUMENTS FOR MISSIONS. We have had the privilege of ministering to nationals and missionaries throughout the world by donating instruments to selected, needy people, missionaries, churches and schools. From Cuba to the Middle East, we have seen God use the gifts of musical instruments as well as reeds, valve oil and other accessories to open incredible doors in sharing Christ with individuals in addition to developing long-term relationship benefits for our missionaries.
Listen to these testimonies:
- In Africa a young lady was praying for a flute. A music ministry leader heard of the need, their orchestra provided TWO flutes and enough materials to get her started. She was so overwhelmed by God’s provision that she accepted Christ!
- In Cuba a Christian university student was given a clarinet and she wept with gratitude and joy.
- In Jordan a Muslim child was given a saxophone, and her friends were given reeds, valve oil and additional supplies for their instruments which led to significant relationships being built for Christ.
Our desire is to collect an inventory of 200 instruments of all kinds to be given to nationals as an evangelistic outreach and to missionaries to enhance their ministry opportunities. An instrument repair specialist in Atlanta will confirm they are in good, playable condition and they will be distributed as needs arise. For instance:
- The missionary team in Volgograd, Russia, is in desperate need of instruments for an after-school orchestra program. The public school officials see the need and want the program, but can’t afford the instruments.
- The National Concert Band of Cuba needs updated instruments. Most of the instruments they are playing are very old or are made in China. Providing quality instruments to these players where the average salary is $15 per month is a tremendous door-opener for ministry and evangelism.
- Barbara Johnson is an IMB missionary in Amman, Jordan. Our desire is to provide her with many beginning band instruments for her band program to reach additional Muslim children.
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE ASKING OF YOU AND YOUR ORCHESTRA
- Pray with and talk to your orchestra/church to determine their interest in joining this campaign.
- Define a goal for the number of instruments to be donated. We recommend a good starting point to be 20-25.
- Please email Lorry at Lorry@GlobalMissionsProject.com letting her know that you and your orchestra are committed and what your target goal is.
- BRING the instruments with you to the ATLANTA INSTRUMENTAL ENCORE, where we will display God’s provision for this desperate need. If you can’t bring them with you, make arrangements for them to be delivered to Atlanta, so they can be included with the instruments displayed at the EXPO.
Over the next few weeks, the GMP staff will be preparing support packets for you and your orchestra for the campaign. YOU and YOUR people can make a tremendous difference in the life of another person by investing in their passion for music in addition to opening doors to share Christ by the gift of an instrument!
